Barcode Scanner Emulator is distributed as a ZIP archive for macOS, built separately for Apple Silicon and Intel.

Download

Download the build matching your Mac's chip from the latest release: the Apple Silicon build for M-series Macs, or the Intel x64 build for older Macs. Check "About This Mac" if you're unsure which chip you have.

Installing

Unzip the downloaded archive and move the app to your Applications folder. Since the app is not notarized through the Mac App Store, macOS Gatekeeper may block the first launch. Right-click the app and choose "Open," then confirm in the dialog that appears, to bypass this on first run.

Granting accessibility permissions

To register a global keyboard shortcut and simulate keystrokes into other applications, macOS requires Accessibility permission. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable the toggle for Barcode Scanner Emulator. Without this permission, the global shortcut will not trigger simulated input in other apps.

Simulating input

Configure the barcode value and shortcut as described in Getting Started, then click into the target field and press the shortcut. Verify the output using the Barcode Input Tester.
